The ChallengeWe are looking for a mechanic to join our Siler City Equipment Shop team. In this role you will Operate a fuel service truck. Perform semi-skilled work in routine services parts replacements and minor repairs on of a variety of vehicles and highway construction maintenance equipment in the shop or on our job sites. Perform mechanical work at various levels. Complete work assignments of varying complexity depending on the type of mechanical system. Perform light duty mechanic work on systems Preventative Maintenance Brakes Steering Tires and Tubes Wheels Rims and Hubs transmission (auto) hydraulics air conditioning instruments and gauges and air intake systems. What You BringExperience repairing and replacing tires. Experience performing preventative maintenance on light medium or heavy duty trucks and heavy duty equipment. Skills using 2 tools and pieces of shop equipment such as wrenches sockets battery chargers hydraulic jacks loaders fork lifts automotive truck lifts fuel service trucks tire changers tire balancers welders cutting torches diagnostic equipment computers tire jacks tire balance machines pneumatic wrenches diagnostic gauges electronic testers air impact wrenches air compressors air guns or torque wrenches. A complete set of tools. Ability to work safely in accordance with all safety regulations. Ability to prepare and maintain paperwork. Skills in equipment repair inventory and service records. Ability to understand written and verbal instructions. Strength to move relatively heavy objects including parts and materials necessary to repair and maintain equipment. Commitment to a safe working environment by leading by example. Ability to read and interpret Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals. Safety toe shoes. NotesYour work will be performed independently in the field and under close supervision in the equipment shop depending upon the complexity of the assignment. You will need to have a Class A Commercial Driver s License (CDL) with N endorsement within 90 days of hire. If you don t already have it you must have a Class A CDL Permit within 60 days of hire. You will work indoors and outdoors. We may require EPA certification as a Type I II III or Universal technician. A pre-employment drug test is required. We will do a background check with previous employers for the past 2 years about controlled substances and alcohol. Safety Toe Shoes are required.
