The ChallengeWe re looking for an Engineering Technician to join our Onslow County Maintenance team. In this role you willSupport senior technicians engineers preparing plans documents estimates and contracts. Perform field investigations for maintenance contracts contract mowing and selective vegetation removal. Organize and maintain as-built and road files. Perform construction estimates. Assist the County Maintenance Engineer in reviews of encroachment and driveway permit submittals. What You BringWorking knowledge of standards specifications and plan reading. Experience working independently to conduct compliance inspections of contracts driveway permits and encroachments. Experience planning developing scheduling tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision. Skills researching and providing right of way information on roads to the public and for internal use. Excellent communications skills to provide phone and on-site technical assistance to on-site inspectors developers contractors engineers and the public. Ability to review and interpret construction plans contract provisions standard specifications and inspection procedures. Knowledge of math functions including algebra geometry and trigonometry. Skills using surveying equipment basic office equipment drafting equipment and Microsoft Word Excel Access and MicroStation. NotesSteel toe shoes are required. We may require work during non-traditional work hours including nights weekends holidays and times of emergency. Valid state driver s license is preferred. Education & ExperienceAssociate s degree in Civil Engineering Technology Survey Technology or a related discipline or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
