DescriptionSummaryThis is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position This position is located at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center Fort Hood TX and is being used to fill second and third shift positions.ResponsibilitiesRecognize and identify unusual test results. Perform various high complexity laboratory tests. Troubleshoot system error codes conditions and malfunctions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g. professional philanthropic religious spiritual community student social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience if qualifying based on education your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience which includes performing laboratory tests in an area such as chemistry hematology microbiology serology virology transfusion services donor center operations and or urinalysis hematology and maintaining and or calibrating laboratory equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-06).Licensure Certification Licensure Certification See below SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR This position requires a minimum of an associate degree in a biological or chemical science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution AND be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) American Medical Technologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD (HA)) or their designee Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (CCLM) as an MLT or MT MLS in accordance with the Department of Defense Manual (DODM) 6440.02. OR have successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory procedures training course of at least 50 weeks duration AND currently hold the military enlisted occupational specialty of medical laboratory specialist (laboratory technician). This position is scheduled to transfer to the Defense Health Agency (DHA) no later than 30 September 2021 in accordance with the provisions of section 702 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 Public Law 114-328. The Act directed the DHA to take responsibility for the administration (i.e. authority direction and control) of military treatment facilities beginning 1 October 2018.
