Lhabab Duchen Festival A Grand Festival for Buddhists and Monks

One of the unique festivals in India the Lhabab Duchen festival marks the arrival of Gautama Buddha the quintessential Buddhist Lord who stepped back on earth for the second time. Every year on the 22nd day of the 9th month which is usually October or November according to the Tibetan calendar a large number of monks and Buddhists congregate in monasteries to celebrate the festival by paying homage to the Lord. Also known as Tibetan Duchen Festival this is one of the most significant festivals of Gangtok. Many Buddhist followers and tourists visit Sikkim to witness the rituals and fervour with which the festival is celebrated.
