Established by the Marriott family and operating through a service agreement with Marriott International Bridges is in twelve major cities across the United States serving young adults who often have barriers to employment. Bridges mission is to transform the lives of youth with disabilities through the power of a job. The Managing Director is responsible for the programmatic effectiveness of Bridges in accordance with its mission objectives and goals. Reporting to the Vice President & Executive Director this position oversees program and business operations of all Bridges field offices including human resources tools and processes and site-related matters working cooperatively with shared resources within Marriott International as needed. Bridges site leaders including directors and team leaders report to the Managing Director. Specific Job Summary The primary responsibilities of this position will be Working with Vice President & Executive Director and Chief Development Officer define and consistently deliver on business objectives aligned with Bridges standards and goals developing and managing a comprehensive operating budget consistent with funding resources and in compliance with contractual fiduciary requirements and regulations. Work with Bridges site leaders to develop site-specific performance plans and budgets and ensure financial stability in support of Bridges growth objectives. Advance operational excellence by ensuring uniform procedures and accountability measures that can be used to drive consistency of performance across the organization. Evaluate and enhance existing tools systems and processes ensuring that current practices are keeping pace with the short- and long-term needs of Bridges and its constituents. Effectively lead multiple work teams across the network of Bridges offices. Exhibit exceptional management and mentoring skills in supervising developing and leading a diverse team of individuals across multiple locations. Ensure that Bridges sites comply with all established operating standards (e.g. documentation data collection and reporting) and that program components are consistently implemented according to established standards and requirements across all offices. Ensure and as needed enhance recruitment and onboarding process to suit the unique needs requirements environment and culture associated with Bridges. Guide site leaders to continually foster an environment of mutual trust and shared ownership of the Bridges mission and values advancing performance through cooperative thinking planning and execution. Provide resources and or coaching to site leaders so they are optimally equipped to manage their respective teams and to drive consistency and accountability across all personnel. Candidate Profile Required Bachelor s degree required with business administration organizational human resource management or related workforce development disability discipline preferred MBA MS or equivalent experience desired. Minimum of 10 years work experience the majority of which would ideally be spent with a not-for-profit organization with at least five years in a programmatic-leadership position. Successful candidates should possess knowledge and skills as follows Proven expertise with business planning and management in order to drive the performance outcomes and budget management for each Bridges site and the organization overall. Demonstrated success assessing developing and implementing operating processes and procedures in support of a diverse multi-office organization. Ability to forecast and recommend appropriate allocations of resources includes negotiation and procurement of external providers as needed. Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills as well as organizational skills customer orientation attention to detail and a drive to continuously improve. Ability to communicate effectively with Foundation trustees senior leaders Bridges site leaders. Ability to deliver concise compelling presentations to executives and senior decision-makers and to respond quickly thoughtfully and respectfully when questioned or challenged. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documentation. Proven people management skills with success supervising inspiring and effectively influencing a remote workforce operating as a senior leader as well as a roll-up-your-sleeves contributor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team a self-starter who takes initiative and follows tasks through to completion. Ability to work well under pressure to adapt to a changing environment contributing sound ideas and strategic thinking to build a strong effectual organization. Proficient with major business software applications including Microsoft Office (Word Excel and PowerPoint) as well as management information systems required experience with Cloud-based data systems and Salesforce a plus.
