Pair of Mid-20th Century Toguna Posts From a Mali Dogon Village

MAKE AN OFFER These two dynamic carved toguna posts (circa early 20th century) come with custom made stands. The posts came from a Dogon village in Mali. They once helped support a toguna which is an important structure around which a Dogon village is built. A toguna is the most important gathering place in a Dogon village and is characterized by its low-lying structure with monumental elaborately carved wooden posts supporting a thick roof of millet stalks.
