JEFFERSON - Male Domestic Shorthair

Guess who s finally ready for a new home - Jefferson This poor guy has been through the ringer yet he s nothing but sweetness. So back in April we welcomed Jefferson (aka Jeffy) into our care he had been roaming the D and hanging out by a factory. The workers noticed he had cuts missing fur abscesses and was terribly skinny. During our exam we also noticed he had a cleft palate - that was a first It took us about a month to get him healthy and get some meat on his bones to be ready for surgery. Sadly the surgery didn t take - as is often the case in cleft palate repairs there s not a lot of extra skin in the roof of your mouth and you kind of need your mouth to eat so it s a tough spot for surgery. Well then guess who decides to get sick Ok he didn t decide to get sick but he did. It kind of makes sense when you think that he s basically got a hole in his head that food can get stuck in and become infected... So then it s back on antibiotics to get him healthy again and ready for another surgery. On to surgery 2 which goes much smoother but while under anesthesia he aspirates (sneezes coughs) and gets some fluid in his lungs. So now he gives himself pneumonia (we know he s not doing this on purpose but sometimes we wonder.... D). It was touch-and-go with him for a good 2 weeks where we weren t sure he was going to make it but he did - he s a tough cookie. After he was in the clear from that we put him into another foster home where he could get more one-on-one and wet food only to allow that mouth to heal. And guess what It did Jeffy got the green light from our vet and he s now finally ready to a forever home So long story short Jeffy was sick but now he s better. He s sweet vocal obnoxiously friendly sociable and gets along with cats dogs and kids. He s all-around awesome and would be a great cat for YOU We ve gotten to know him pretty well these last few months but now it s time for him to have his new beginning If you are interested in meeting me please come visit me at the NBAR Adoption Center located at 2502 Rochester Rd.
