Mr. Reginald McBarkster (Reggie) is a 9 year old dachsund chihuahua mix. Picked up as a stray by Maricopa Animal Control and never claimed. This I just can t understand because I would be looking EVERYWHERE for this guy if I lost him. He is just the silliest sweetest cutest little guy with ZERO behavior problems. Reggie is fully house-trained. Before he learned to use the doggy door he was in the house for 9 or more hrs a day with no accidents. He now knows how to use the doggy door. For the first few days I crated him during the day while I was at work and while I don t think he was use to being crated and was not thrilled he was a good boy about it. I don t see any reason why he should be crated other than possibly initial introduction to a new house and other dogs though because he is a very good boy and doesn t get into mischief. This little dude is a social butterfly who does not know a dog or person he doesn t like - very friendly and outgoing. He gets along superbly with the dogs in his foster home and its quite an array of sizes and personalities - 3 XL younger active dominant personality dogs a bossy chihuahua and a medium sized senior who is not dominant but can be a bit of a curmudgeon. He is SO fabulous with all of them. He has been great with little boys 8-10 yrs old. If you aren t familiar - they are scary terribly loud Nerf gun wielding creatures that even make me want to tuck tail and hide under the bed but Reggie doesn t mind. He sleeps either in my bed or my 8 year old s bed. Mr. Reginald seems to be able to read dog personalities well and behave accordingly. Reggie is a great choice if you are looking to introduce a new friend to your pack and he has no desire to be king he just wants to be friends and avoid trouble. If a dog scolds him he s like okay no hard feelings. I won t do it again. and he wags his little tail apologizes and carries on. And that tail just wags and wags. You can just look at him and it will go. He is a very expressive one too with lots of well practiced faces to bend you to his will. His poor me face is worthy of an Oscar. You will see it when he wants food you have or to be picked up. Reggie follows me literally everywhere and he will put himself in the middle anything I am trying to do at his level. He has turned my putting on shoes and socks to play with Reggie time. I have to fight with him in order to clean my other dog s ears brush them give them their meds...he is ALWAYS watching and waiting for the opportunity to attack me. He is such a little stinker. Reggie will follow you outside but has no particular love for the outdoors so would be fine in an apt. He is very social and likes company so is looking for a home that has either doggy or human companionship for most of the day. A small dog that would play with him would be ideal. Reggie is so ready for his furever home. He is an awesome little dog. You could not possibly regret adopting this guy.
