Our first impression of Guinness when we saw her at the shelter was that she was scared and unsure of her surroundings and new people. Listed as a stray she had found herself at an over-crowded shelter surrounding by lots of scary and loud noises and people she didn t know. When we got to spend some time with her in a quiet setting she wanted to hide underneath the bench hoping perhaps that we would go away. We sat with her quiety and gave her some space unitl finally she started to crawl out from her hiding space and came up to us to give us a sniff and check us out. Whenever we would pet her on her back she would sort of jump a little as if she were waiting for something bad to happen. We knew she just needed a little time and TLC to come out of her shell.After just a few days at our facility sweet and shy little Guinness began bossing around our bigger dogs and letting them know who s really boss. When walking on leash she would stop every few feet unsure of where she was going or what to do next. In just a over a week s time she can t wait to go on walks and run around being silly. No longer does she cower when we try to pet her but is actually learning how to sit and runs up to us when we come to see her.
