He must have a strong pack leader otherwise he will run over you. He needs an adult only home. Oscar can be a very very sweet dog. He likes to show affection and to get attention - when he wants it. He has bitten and broken the skin on one occasion since his time here with us. What we have found is that he does best with people that he knows and trust versus complete strangers. Oscar needs a strong leader who can teach him some manners and work with him. He loves to play and run out in the field. Oscar has a lot of energy and needs someone who is able to exercise him. He shows signs of resource guarding - he will act ugly in his crate sometimes and over treats. We definitely think his behavior could be modified with some training. At this time we believe he would thrive best in a home where he is the only pet. He has not made many canine friends in his time here - mainly due to his dominant personality. With some time and patience Oscar could be an excellent dog. He needs an adult only home. Oscar was heartworm positive when we got him. He has finished full treatment and is ready for a home. Update 3 31 2016 Oscar needs lots of patience for the right home. He does not like new people but once he warms up to you he s as sweet as can be He loves to run and give kisses. He will jump fences..so he definaltey could use some training. If anyone is interested in this goofy boy they should come spend one on one time at the farm with him until Oscar is comfortable with the new person. Age We are estimating him at 5 but honestly the longer he s with us the younger he acts. Please understand that these are rescued dogs and sometimes their ages are only a guess. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture and not to discriminate against older dogs. You never know which dog will steal your heart when you meet them How I act when I first meet new people VERY weary about new people. He will bark and growl in his run until he gets to know you. Please note - we do not ship dogs.
