Meet Tiki. He is a 4 year old 20 pound Cavalier Spaniel mix. He came to us from the Belmont County Dog Shelter OH. He is a great little guy full of personality fun smart and engaging. Tiki loves to ride in the car is excellent on a leash loves his daily walks. He is great with all dogs big and small. Tiki loves belly rubs and playing with toys. He is excited to meet new people and seems to really enjoy young adults (college age). Tiki is not a barker is house trained crate trained (but doesn t need one). He is super affectionate but not needy. Tiki has been a great little foster dog but it s obvious to us that he has been mistreated and mishandled in his past. He will not be pushed so all training has to be positive approach only - should be anyway. Here s an example Tiki s foster s daughter was home for the weekend. It was the first time she had met Tiki and she was trying to put his harness on him for a walk. She couldn t get it on quite right and was messing with it Tiki growled at her. She responded with a stern stop it and end of story. The point is that the growling did happen and although he has never attempted to bite he is uncomfortable with anything that seems rough to him. Tiki will need an owner that is loving but stern should he show any of this behavior. It seems that letting him know that he is okay and his behavior is not acceptable is all that he needs. The more familiar he is with the person the more trusting and the behavior disappears. TIKI S ADOPTION REQUIRES A fenced yard or area that lead directly from the home large enough for proper exercise ball throwing etc. Someone that is home more than a 8 hour work day allows someone that works from home works very part time or is retired. Tiki would enjoy another dog but it is not necessary as long as his owner takes him for walks and includes him in his activities. We would like to place him in an adult only household but we think would do find with visiting children. Tiki is a great little dog. He has been an easy foster that as adapted well and seems to go with the flow. He is very cute and eager to please. Makes for a super companion Star-Mar uses a natural care program for our dogs.
