Jackpot - Male Labrador Retriever

JACKPOT (formerly Mr. Nobody) 4 year old non neutered purebred English black lab 74 lbs (Lab Rescue will coordinate his neutering) Yes I WAS Mr. Nobody. My previous owner named me that. The shelter took one look at me and knew that I was not a Mr. Nobody but rather Mr. Somebody. You see lucky for me my owner was (allegedly) caught being mean to me on surveillance camera. He was arrested (trial pending) but I was the one taken to the pokey in January. They had to keep me there until the trial. It got pretty lonely in there as I had to be in a cell by myself as they said I was evidence whatever that means. These nice people from this place called Golden Gate Lab Rescue heard my story and decided they wanted to break me out of there and put me in a home at least until the trial. One of their wonderful volunteers drove a long way to pick me up. I really felt like I scored and hit the jackpot and thus my new name is Jackpot I ended up going to a wonderful foster home and loved just hangin out with the foster especially in the yard. Because I am not neutered (and cannot be till after the trial) I have some raging hormones and just wanted to go after the foster s male Lab so I am now with a wonderful trainer and making great improvement with other dogs. Once I am officially surrendered to Lab Rescue they have committed to finding me my forever home. From Jackpot s trainer Jackpot is a very loving handsome and strong male so we recommend a home with no small children because of his large size and strength. Also will not be a good fit for a home with another male dog. Jackpot has obedience training will heel sit down come stay go to a Place until released and will listen to No. Jackpot is good with other social dogs with supervision and would be ok living with another female. Due to the fact he was left intact and spent a lot of time in a shelter environment Jackpot has shown aggression towards other males and loves to mark new territory. If corrected for it in your home he will not continue to do it. Jackpot loves to retrieve and as he is getting in shape can go for longer. He is a very easy keeper as far as food goes doesn t take much food to keep him at a healthy weight. He is used to sleeping in lots of different situations crate run and loose. Also good being in a kennel or run during the day. Doesn t seem to care about horses or cats but always be careful when introducing a dog to either. From Jackpot s Rescue Rep Jackpot is a handsome English Lab with the blocky head and the stocky build. He is a strong dog not only in physical strength but also with a strong will and therefore needs someone who is strong enough to handle him physically and to be his leader. We want someone with Lab experience. He wants to please but apparently has not had structure in his life before. Because of this we want someone who is around most of the day to provide this structure guidance and training that he now has been given by his trainer thus far. He requires adequate daily walks hikes for physical and mental stimulation which also provides an opportunity for training and bonding with his new owner. He walks well on a leash with a prong collar. He is house trained rides well in the car and is crate trained. Any kids in the house should be 10 and up. An active household would be a plus. He will require obedience classes to continue this good foundation which we have provided. Jackpot requires a time commitment as all Labs do and the family who meets these needs will have a lifelong loyal buddy. Medical Jackpot is healthy and up to date on vaccinations. He will soon be neutered microchipped and heartworm tested. He is located in Watsonville. If you are interested in making Jackpot part of your family and can provide what Lab Rescue is looking for please call Rescue Rep Sandy (at) -----X. (Please keep in mind we are all volunteers most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)... More Info
