Hello friends and families all over my name is Lio and BOY am I glad you ve come across me. I am one of the most amazing 4-legged boys you ll ever meet if not THE most amazing one Here s a little background you see I ve been up for adoption at Pawmetto Lifeline for over 2 years. You might ask how can this be Why Well it all started when I was purchased by a family as a puppy from a backyard breeder. This was about 5 years ago. I was mistreated and very misunderstood by them. This created behavior that was not very pleasant but it s all I KNEW at the time. This behavior was reinforced by even more mistreatment and the cycle just never seemed to end. I even was forced to wear an electric shock collar and never got praise and positive reinforcement (like I do now). My food was taken away from me if I didn t listen I was kicked out of the house because nobody wanted to work with me and there was a baby on the way. I have transformed into a lovable respectful guy who wants to be outside of the dreaded glass barrier that is my kennel. (Kennel 16 is my address.) If only my former family could see me now because I have changed tremendously since they dumped me. I am a charming HANDSOME 5-year-old southern gentleman who is well-trained and simply wants to make you happy. I am sweet extremely intelligent and love when people make me sit speak high five or lay for a treat With continued positive reinforcement and sufficient exercise I will be the ultimate companion dog. Heck I already am the ultimate companion dog but I hope to show that in your warm and welcoming home. That is ALL that I have longed for. Let s not forget that aside from how obedient I am I have a very affectionate side I love to come up to you for back scratches and to give you kisses on the face if you ll let me Did I mention that I had a sleepover at one of my Adoption Advocate s house recently and I did beautifully It was so nice to get out of the shelter environment. I even got to sleep in a real bed for the first time ever. Can I please join you in yours Or at least the couch I have an affinity for Netflix binges chomping on deflated basketballs eating biscuits and showing off my Olympic-ready running skills. I spend my days LONGING for someone who will give me a lifetime of understanding and happiness space to romp and fetch and even more of the kind of encouragement and boundary setting that has helped me become the great dog I am today. People who have visited Pawmetto Lifeline to adopt a dog often overlook me because I just want OUT of my kennel so I bark. It appears that they can t understand that all I m trying to say is that I want to BE with them I have not been tested with cats and I d do best in a home without another dog so I can get all the attention to myself And you know children aren t quite my style especially with my history of having my food taken away from me. And folks that s just me being real I Just don t want there to be any mistakes or little hands near my mouth when I m eating. Plus between you and me I d probably accidentally knock a few kids over with how big I am (75 lbs.)
