Helga is an energetic 1 1 2 year old girl who came to us from a shelter south of Lexington. She weighs about 65 pounds. Helga just finished treating for heartworms. Poor girl has had a rough start to such a young life but we are happy to say she is now ready to find her happy ending. And novelty alert yes that is a tail a lovely tail with a great curlicue on the end. Helga has also been somewhat of a novelty in our kennel during her stay as we have had mostly boys around until very recently and this has made her anxious as she loves other dogs Because the protocol for HW treatment generally requires the patient to be kept calm as possible she has been allowed any buddies to hang with. She has since played with Hank our water loving boy and weather permitting (too dang hot to be playing hard outside ) she will likely be spending time with a buddy outside. She likes to be indoors and hang out in our office with our staff. We have worked on basic commands and indoor manners and she is an excellent student and has made great progress.Whip smart girl She is an Alpha dog who needs structure and love to back up the triad of dog happiness (and owner joy) of leadership exercise and socialization. After all she is still a puppy Due to her youthful energy homes with children over 7 are appropriate and older may be better. She would do well in an environment with moderate activity and a nice fenced yard to run and play in or frequent visits to a nice dog park.... More Info
