Hello there Thank-you for clicking on my profile I d love to meet you. Let me tell you a little bit about adopting me.My name is Sugar and I am a 5 year old spayed female Poodle Bichon mix who is so very thankful to be a part of the NBS Animal Rescue family The last year of my life has been really difficult for me...my human passed away and I went to live with a relative friend of my humans. My human thought that this person would take great care of me and love me as much as my momma did but instead they chained me up on a 4 foot chain outside 24 7 for several months with no affection or care. Unable to get away from the fleas that are common in our area those pesky fleas bit my sensitive skin 1000 s of times causing me to itch until my beautiful soft fur fell out. With no shade or housing from the elements my bare skin became sun burned and painful. My nails were so overgrown they were curled inwards towards my paws making walking so very difficult and painful. Luckily a good Samaritan saw me over the fence and called Animal Control who came and made my new owner surrender me to the shelter because of how neglectful they were being with my care and well being. The kind shelter workers reached out to NBS Animal Rescue who dropped everything and came out right away to pick me up and take me straight to the doggy doctor to help me get some much needed relief. My foster momma make sure that I got the right medications to help treat my double eye infection double ear infection skin infection overgrown nails and my blistering and itchy skin. She gave me my medicine in tasty treats made sure I got twice weekly spa days with special shampoo to help my skin heal gently rubbed coconut oil on my skin and gave me lots and lots of TLC. After about a month my skin was on the mend my eye and ear infections cured and I found love and trust in my foster mom and dad who take such wonderful care of me. Unfortunately I needed some surgery to help me heal. I had mammary masses from not being spayed early in life and needed surgery to help remove those masses make sure that I can t have any more babies and to help take care of an excess of skin in my lady parts. I had surgery on July 11th and am recovering nicely with my foster mom and dad. While I m not ready to go to my fur-ever home quite yet I still have a few weeks of healing to do I am starting to look for the perfect family to call my own. I will need eye drops twice a day for the rest of my life to help keep me comfortable and will need a family who will make sure I go to the doggy doctor each year for my check-up to make sure that I don t develop any more mammary masses. My skin will still need some TLC for a while with some light massages with coconut oil to help combat my itchy skin. I am a low energy girl who gets along with most other dogs but I really am not interested in being a play mate for another dog. I am a calm and loving little lady who gets excited to see my people when they come home loves to spend time with people I trust and enjoy getting my ears scratched while I snuggle on your lap. I enjoy going for short walks a few times a day am potty trained and am trust worthy outside of a crate when you are at work. I have lived with a cat before - they are just OK - I don t really mind them being in the house with me as we usually just go out separate ways. My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements so if I m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too For me These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home - Family who is gone no longer than 5 hour periods.- Children must be 10 yrs or older.- 100% fenced in yard preferred. No invisible or electric fences. Homes without a fully fenced yard must have a plan for frequent potty breaks outside and at least once daily walks outlined in application. As an approved adopter my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers to help your application be processed as quickly as possible please make sure to .2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet s veterinary history.3.) Call your references too Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference. My adoption fee is 250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine bordatella vaccine de-worming spay neuter surgery rabies vaccine (age appropriate) heartworm test (age appropriate) heartworm preventative flea tick preventative microchip insertion bath nail trim ear cleaning leash and collar and one week s worth of food. Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application.
