When we first laid eyes on this extremely neglected and abused girl we had to do a double take. We were in shock & that is hard to do because we see so many ho ... rrific and sad stories every day. This poor girl is not even a year old although you would not know it by her appearance now. It is a horror the condition she is in Not only does she have the worst case of mange we have ever seen she s also emaciated . Underneath her matted and dirty coat is a shell of a dog her nails are so overgrown they curled into her paw pads. What happened to Ruby We may not ever know her full story as she ended up in a high-kill shelter with very little known history. To think what her short life has been like is just sickening She is getting urgent care and treatment at the vet right now. Ruby is hanging on she has the will to survive and we will help her every step of the way. She is still bleeding from every opening and her red count is low. She is getting medicated baths the vet is treating her with antibiotics and pain management and sub cutaneous fluids due to the fact they try to use a tourniquet to put in IV fluids and she began bleeding so badly because there is no vein to put the IV in. She s extremely lethargic severely dehydrated running a high fever her skin is raw from Demodex she has infected wounds from the embedded collar on her neck and chest she s starved and pooped rocks.
