Date 7 11 16I have a story to tell you. The ending depends on you . . .I was a little puppy 8 years ago and a family adopted me from Tailwaggers 911 and promised to love me forever. I believed them even when they dropped me off at the local humane society a couple of months ago. I thought maybe they were going on a vacation and would be back in a few days. That day never came. A person from TW911 came to pick me up. She was sad that someone had decided that I was like garbage to be discarded when they didn t feel like keeping me.I couldn t believe that I was one of those dogs - abandoned and alone. I was very depressed and very sick. I had severe ear infections and was losing weight. It took many weeks to help me physically and mentally heal. I now weigh 50 lbs and have recovered except I am missing something in my life a family that really wants to love me forever. I am so afraid that with my age that no one will want me and I don t want to go to the nursing home. Before you say I m too old please let me tell you more about myself.I came to my foster home with no manners. I was not naughty but just didn t know how a dog is supposed to act. My foster mom worked very hard with me and now I feel like I am ready for the Mrs Wisconsin Beauty Pageant . I have learned how to walk nicely on a loose leash. You might need to remind me once in a while when I start to get ahead of you to heel . I will stop and wait until you catch up. I have learned to fetch come go lay down off sit and currently working on stay . I am very intelligent as you will see when you meet me. I love to fetch tennis balls. It is so exciting for me that sometimes I can t quite get the ball in my mouth the first time second time and ok the third time. Once I get the ball I bring it back. You say drop and the ball comes out of my mouth. You pick up the ball and I sit nicely until you toss that ball again. Being outside with me is a blast because I don t run away and if you want to relax on your deck I will too. It s not like I don t run around I just want to show you how much I love you by being next to you. I may be a bit older but I have a lot of spring in my step. When I finally do need the wheelchair I will be right beside you as you build it for me because I know you love me and would do anything for me. Right Bedtime is my favorite time and when I hear the word bedtime I am the first one upstairs. Usually I wait for my foster mom to come in the room before I hop on the bed. She tells me to get up on the bed and one big bounce I am there. I stretch out and get myself all cozy for the night and talk out loud letting you know how much I love to this part of the day. I snuggle close and make noises before sleeping soundly for the night. I really don t like getting up but when the day is ready to begin I am up and about. I know that I get to go outside and will wait at the door for the new day to begin.If you hear me whine I am telling you I would really like to go outside. I would never think of going potty in the house. You leave the house and let me loose I will respect my home. I will go in the crate if you want me to because I am that kind of a dog very respectful. I enjoy cooking well actually watching you cook. I sit quietly overseeing that you don t mess up the recipe and will not miss the treats that come my way. I love my food with a little extra gravy or leftovers to enhance the flavor of my boring food because TW911 found out I had a food allergy and need grain-free food. Okay I admit I have snuck a taste or two of the other dog food and cat food in the house. Why is it that everyone else s plate looks better than mine I love the cats and chickens at the farm. Recently there were 15 chicks born at my foster home and I like to lay down with my foster sister to watch them for a long time. We are the keepers of the chicks and make sure that none of them got lost. I also love kids - although they do have to watch out as I am a champion face-washer And I do lik other dogs but I am independent and know how other dogs should act - and if they don t I will let them know that I don t like it. I would be fine being an only dog as long as you made sure that I still got lots of socialization so I don t get too full of myself. I m a good choice for an experienced dog owner who knows how to give me the rules and structure and LOVE HUGS and CUDDLES that I need.If you open your car door I will be sitting in it waiting for you to take me for a ride. I have been known to spend quality time in the Town and Country van while watching my foster mom weed the flower bed or mow the lawn. She will look at me and laugh but you know what at the end I do get a ride right to the garage. What can I say if that is all I can get I will take the 30 second trip.My favorite pastime is to take all the toys and bones out of the basket in the living room after dinner. It takes me all night to empty the basket and I am so exhausted I need to get on my own chair to rest. My favorite show is Wheel of Fortune. I am waiting for the phrase that says I have been adopted.
