You make think Eubie is a Jazzy dog and so he is. But he acts more Rock and Roll. The beat is strong with drum solos and some wild guitar riffs. This translates into pulling hard on the leash controlling his favorite items (the leash toys). And he knows he is strong enough to hold on. Give the boy enough (a larger amount than most dogs need) exercise and the jazz comes back with a clever inventive but easier to hang on to tune.In other word at six years old Eubie is like an adolescent who is pushing the boundaries. He has strong needs for an experienced family who enjoys working with dogs has the time right now to get started and will keep going with training and exercise.Eubie is too physical and pushy for children under sixteen and adults who are not fit enough to withstand his pulling. He has a history of pulling people down or pushing them over. Because he takes control of the leash you should walk with a metal chain leash to keep him from using his mouth to control it. He can have toys and enjoys playing but tug is not the game for him. Learning to share by exchanging objects for great (in his opinion) treats is what he needs before you even think about pulling something out of his mouth. That to him to a great game he always wins.Eubie needs to be well matched if he is to live with another dog. Some dogs are too rough and pushy for him he is too rough and pushy for others. Or perhaps he will better enjoy living as an only dog.An ideal home for him would have a well fenced yard where he could play fetch until you both drop. He should not be left out alone he needs the structure and management from you. Give rewards for good behavior take training interludes and have a blast together as a team.A secret Eubie wishes we wouldn t share with you is that he has learned to manipulate people with his looks. He points his long muzzle down and looks up at you with his sad and loving eyes. Very hard to resist He is social although he barks at people knocking on the door he is a friendly greeter. In fact we spent a long time with him after he had exercise and he was a great dog not the dog we expected from his rap sheet. Be sure you take him through Family Dog Classes introduce him to Scenting ( he will gain some needed focus) and maybe even try some Agility.
