Eko - Female African Grey

Eko has a long history which has improved during her few years at TGF. Eko had a limited life and limited social interaction prior to coming to TGF. Gradual increases in outdoor activity including walks on the ground both inside the aviaries and outside when accompanied by a human adding foraging boxes in to and on top of her cage adding same species social activity and significantly reduced petting and stroking make a big improvement in Eko s feather appearance and her confidence. Eko is a relatively young Grey and she is in need of activities and structure to keep her physically and mentally stimulated and challenged. She is accustomed to positive reinforcement and her ability to participate in a behavior. Her previous owner was always gentle person and respectful to her. Eko is comfy with dogs and spent time in her previous owner s family s home with his two labs and his parents. Eko was just a youngster when she was purchased and her interaction with people since day one has been built on her comfort level with gradual exposure to different venues events and people. She s learned a lot from watching other Greys and as a young parrot she s hopefully got a lot of living and learning ahead for decades to come. Eko was in long term foster care for several years and her owner decided it was best for her to be placed in TGF s adoption program because he wants her to have an opportunity to rejoin a family with plenty of activities. Eko will step up on a towel and will step up on a hand for the right person. She enjoys being a part of daily activities and watching what s going on around her. Give her some time on the floor for a walkabout a little time outside in an aviary or large bird-safe enclosure and you will have a very happy bird.
