Guru (shown here on the left) & her ( gender TBD) young BFF Ash were bred to be someone s dinner (squab) but instead wound up stray and helpless on the streets of San Francisco. They were very lucky to be taken to the animal shelter and then lucky again when being sick got them pulled into MickaCoo s emergency foster care. They were lovingly nursed back to health and are now ready to be adopted. Despite having nothing but gentle patient care for the past three months these two are both still very VERY shy- both of people and other birds. I can t remember ever having pigeons this shy. They need a lot of patience and a very safe low-pressure home (foster or forever) to continue to develop their confidence. I ve seem small indications of progress over the past two weeks but they have a long ways to go. They are very bonded to each other and super easy to care for. Guru is all white and was named for her exceptionally wise & deep brown eyes. She is a little extra shy.
