6 10 14 Update Hester s wing healed beautifully and she has full range of motion and can fly (as well as a pigeon built like a bowling ball can fly anyway). She s a sweet bird still bonded with her very very old sugar daddy Jacob. These two sweethearts need a gentle easy drama-free home (local to the SF CA area).Hester is a big beautiful multi-colored pigeon (Carneau-King cross I think) that was one of 13 rescued from being butchered as poultry and was surrendered to MickaCoo so that she could find a safe home and live a good life. She was released in a parking garage by a well-intended but misguided Good Samaritan in the expectation that she could like the ferals pigeons he saw living there make it on her own. She was fortunate to survive for 48 hours and was rescued with a broken wing. She wouldn t have made it much longer on her own. She s doing well and her broken humerus should heal up in a couple of weeks. She ll be flightless but pigeons are clever at jumping and using shelves and diagonal perches to navigate. She ll adjust fine. Right now she s having a fling with a much much older pigeon. She may be a little bit too much for him.
