Frankie - Male Norwich TerrierSilky Terrier Mix

Frankie was transferred from another shelter where he had been brought in after he was found caught in a trap. After surgery there he had a second surgery at MHS and is recovering in a body wrap to keep the stitches in. His body wrap consists of a Thundershirt which is normally used to help dogs relax when they are anxious. He is a super active young terrier who may have calmed down some in his shirt. He would still like to run a marathon.It will be helpful for Frankie s new family to understand real terriers. He has no idea that he is small rather he thinks he is mighty. Luckily he is very social with people. His activity level is high he will need as much exercise as a young large dog. Combined with education starting out with Small Dog classes and Scenting he will be more reasonable.Part of Frankie s attitude comes to a peak when he has valuables (to him). He does not want to share. We think he could be worked with to learn to enjoy sharing but he should not be around children under High School age. The whole family can then participate in teaching him to trade for better stuff. He may have attitude but he is no dummy. He will win and win he will learn to like you around his stuff.On a leash Frankie really lets go. He seems pretty scary but up close to a dog he is more friendly. He will need adult handling and training to teach him to pay attention to you rather than the passing dogs. Even if he means no harm other dogs may not adapt well to his language.Frankie is generally a barrel of fun. He is hoping for a barrel of toys to play with and people who love to play with him. Life is an adventure with Frankie. Hopefully it is a good adventure from now on. No more wandering and getting stuck in traps but a happy home indoors lots of fun activities and people to share his antics.
