Pharoah - Male Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix

Pharoah is a timid but sweet boy He has come a long way in the last few weeks but he still has a long journey ahead of him as he adjusts to life as a family pet instead of a dog on the run. Pharoah was all about the food and going for walks but any kind of restraint - even putting a collar around his neck boosting him into the car or any attempts to examine him - was met by unfavorable reactions. He initially went through our Shy Dog Program to work on these skills. Thanks to Friends of the Shelter s support Pharoah is now living and working with the vet - getting dressed for work each day with the addition of his collar and leash getting in and out of the car with and without help learning to sit and wait for his food and even becoming comfortable with strokes to his head and body. Pharoah still often will flash his fearful eyes when something unnerves him and he quickly reverts back to his fight or flight instincts so his new home should include another playful dog to socialize with and learn from a securely fenced in yard no kids under 12yrs of age no cats (he likes to chase) and humans dedicated to continuing his training in a slow positive and consistent way so his fears subside. Pharoah is now crate trained and housebroken ... He prefers not to be crated but tolerates it.
