Snowie Deaf D160954 - American Pit Bull Terrier

Name Snowie Date of Birth Approx. 01 23 2014 Gender Female Breed Pitty x Weight 39 Dog friendly Yes Cat friendly TBD Kid friendly Yes House trained Working on it Crate trained Does fine left out Energy level Moderate History Pulled from a high kill shelter Adoption Fee 300 From the Foster Snowie doesn t let the initial rough start in life or her deafness stop her from being a loving inquisitive and playful pocket-pittie. Having spent most of her life in a shelter she is currently getting to learn the true joys of being a dog. She wants to meet everyone play with everyone and has a lot of fun with her raw-hide rope stuffed animal toy and tennis ball. She even has a ton of fun with an old box I gave her to push around on the floor. Easily amused she can play be herself and is exploring playing with me and my other foster dog. She switches between wanting to play and wanting to just be close and snuggle and is incredibly loving. Her new owner will be very lucky to have her in their life You will fall in love with her one blue eye and one brown eye and beautiful spotted white coat. Being new to all this she is also spending her time picking up new skills and is a fast learner who is eager to please. Initially VERY afraid of stairs she overcame her fear (in only 1 day ) and now seeks them out. We have not worked on crate training yet as she does well when left out alone. She is currently learning to go outside this process was difficult in the beginning because of her fear of stairs but I m confident in a short time she will have this pattern down as well. She walks well with a harness and rides well in the car too. Even though being deaf doesn t seem to bother her it does mean there are some special things to consider for anyone interested in adopting her. She will not respond to voice commands so her owner will need to work with her on paying attention to and following hand signals. She already is learning a signal for no and good job. She understands petting her as a form of praise. Being the playful gal that she is she approaches my other foster and other dogs and people with gusto but the way she vocalizes combined with her level of energy can sometimes intimidate others. Her owner will need to work with her on how to introduce herself slowly and work on voice commands. One other thing to note is she sometimes is surprised by touch because she doesn t notice you approaching her. She does not act out at all she just seems a little startled.
