Kate and Georgie came into TGF s care from a Ft. Collins animal cruelty intake due to animal hoarding from an older woman who at one time was able to care for most of her birds. lack of financial resources age illness and the onset of dementia changed the lives of every bird in her care. After over a year with TGF Kate and friend Georgie were adopted and lived with that adopter for 10 years. Both birds have outgoing temperaments and enjoy each other s companionship. We were surprised to receive a call from a Denver area animal shelter in April 2014 with the message that two TGF birds had been relinquished to them. They were Kate and Georgie. We don t know why the adopter didn t contact us why she didn t return the relinquishment paperwork why she never once took the birds to a vet in the 10 years she had them nor why she just dumped them We care about what happens to our birds and their families and thank DFL for immediately contacting TGF once they received the birds. Georgie and Kate were dirty and their feathers were quite unkempt when they returned to us. After several weeks of baths a return to a good diet and interacting with these girls both were back to their gorgeous glowing selves. Over the past few months their friendship has drifted apart as they each have made new friends growing their social circle. Any one lucky enough to meet Kate or Georgie and spend time around either of them will find it hard NOT to fall in love with a macaw. We want to find each of them a home that will provide the security and future of two delightful macaws who have a lot of good will and good behaviors to share. Georgie has a wide vocabulary.
