In December 2013 SGRR received a plea from the Dothan Animal rescue shelter in AL about 6 pups who were found in the nearby woods. SGRR typically defers pups to rescues who focus on the adoption of pups but during the holiday season there was no room at the inn. These little babies who had barely begun to live their lives were in danger of being put to sleep due to overcrowded conditions at the shelter. At that time Nikon and his siblings were about 6 weeks old. All 6 pups found loving homes and grew up to be big dogs. A DNA test done on 1 of the pups revealed a lineage of mostly Pyrenees pure bred on 1 side and Pyrenees mixture on the other and not golden mixes as we originally thought. Nikon was placed with a family in MA and was re-named Prince. He has a stay-at-home mom a nice daddy four human siblings and is rarely alone. He has lived a very happy life with them and we thought everything would be perfect for him....
