Maxine is a 4 year young Black and Tan Dachshund. She weighs 15.5 pounds and is the sweetest little girl you will ever find.Maxine has not had a great run in her first 4 years she was abandoned at a High Kill shelter 2 years ago. After that she found an amazing home but her Mom passed away this year. After being shuffled around friends and family Maxine found her way back to CLHR. It is now time to find this lovely lady the perfect forever home.Maxine is a smuggler but she also loves to play and chase squirrels she has a very calm demeanor and gets along with all of her foster dog roomies. She lives with a Pitbull a Lab Mix and 3 other Dachshunds. She loves them all. She snuggles plays and sleeps with her friends. Her favorite place is on her Foster Daddy s Chest watching a movie or just taking a nap.Maxine is crate trained but since she is pee pad trained she has full run of her foster home. We are currently working on her fear piddling. When you reach for her to pick her up or put on a leash she rolls on her back and dribbles a little bit. Simple solution for that Let her come to you and take her to the front door on a pee pad before you put her lead on Seeing this is her only work in progress issue with all she has been through I say that is nothing but a little thing. She may eventually stop doing this but it could be something that may take a long time to correct . patience and consistency is the key Here is the home Maxine is looking for.Since Maxine has been through so much due to the loss of her Mom we are not placing her into a Senior Home. Maxine is only 4 and has a long life ahead of her. As much as we all think we will live forever we simply don t .Maxine needs to find a stable home with children over 10 where she is the Queen of the Castle. Her home should be with an established family that will take her with them when traveling and not leave her home for alone for long periods of time. Even though she is crate trained we will not place her into a home where she will be crated for 10 hours with no interaction when left for long periods of time Maxine will start nursing on her blankets and you will find little holes all over this is her way of coping with the solitude. Since returning to CLHR she has not chewed or destroyed any bedding and or blankets She simply wants to be part of the family and not isolated on her own for long periods of the day. I mean who does Maxine loves to go for walks and she loves to chase squirrels so a yard or many many walks every day will be perfect. She is so well behaved that you truly can take her with you wherever you go Maxine is being fostered in Greenville SC and can be adopted to a home in SC NC or GA. If you live outside of this area you will have to bring your entire family both fur and people to SC to meet her.
