Late on the night of November 14th a kind man distinguished himself from the crowd who encircled him by picking up and bringing home a small white dove sitting helplessly on the sidewalk on the edge of Golden Gate Park. He didn t know anything about birds nor was he even sure what kind he was but he knew he needed help. He couldn t keep him himself and reached out to Palomacy for assistance. With all our foster homes full as always I wasn t sure where we could accomodate this little bird but we got lucky when volunteers Steve & Santana were willing to change their plans and rushed to help rescue the poor dear. He was exhausted underweight weak and very lucky to be alive. Most likely he is one of who knows how many domestic doves that were purchased and then misguidely released for some ceremony at the park. Domestic Ringneck Doves like Lucky have no survival skills whatsoever and it is a miracle he survived long enough to get rescued.
