This basic training course will prepare the actor with an appreciation of each weapon and its historical significance as well as various techniques used to sell a fight. From staged punches to sword fights this practical approach will be invaluable to you as an actor in marketing yourself better towards directors and combat choreographers. Session Two October 19th Advanced Training 1 Building on the previous applications learned in basic training this advanced training session will give the actor a solid foundation of staged combat. Learning historical techniques with specific weapons and unarmed styles and applying them to choreography. The actor can begin to pull from their own knowledge to build a small believable fight. This session will stress the absolute need for safety and respect as we build fights. Session Three October 26th Advanced Training 2 Having a solid foundation in training and the level of concentration for safety and respect the actor can learn minute techniques or specific styles of fighting. From sword drills pulled from historic manuscripts to modern military applications the actor can train for a specific role or mindset for that role. Becoming comfortable with your movement means the actor is free to suggest and actively create a believable fight with the director and combat choreographer.
