Lucy shares her room with a hand full of animated vocal and attention grabbing Umbrella Cockatoos Lucy on the other hand is very quiet and shy. While her fellow species are busy show-boating Lucy can be found watching silently from her top perch waiting for the right individual to notice and understand her laid-back nature. Lucy came to TGF in 2005 while here she has made friends with other Umbrella Cockatoos and opened to individuals who are willing to be patient with her. Though Lucy s age is unknown her annual veterinary examinations point to perfect health. Though Lucy doesn t share the same outgoing over the top expressions as her fellow Umbrellas she certainly shares the same genealogical ancestry. Umbrella cockatoos are native to Indonesia and hold an average weight of 450g. These brilliant birds are also known as the White Cockatoo due to predominant color of their contour feathers white Umbrella Cockatoos do have slight yellow coloration around the posterior on the bottom of the tail feathers and beneath their wings. Like many Parrot species White Cockatoos nest in hollows with trees requiring the beak for proper modification of the dwelling. This natural behavior is key in understanding how to keep Lucy busy in a way that is natural for her. Given intact pieces of wood on a skewer or threaded with sisel rope Lucy would be happy to reduce them to splinters. Though she is reserved in her interactions Lucy still loves to interact with her immediate environment investigating and understanding all that she can.
