Mato what used to be called the Clairol conure these bird were wild caught trapped in MX then taken to the border towns especially Brownsville Laredo Juarez and Nogales to be sold as baby Amazons. The head feathers would be died yellow the flight and tail feathers cut short or pulled out the other feathers plucked out and then nearby would be a shill Double yellow headed Amazon that would be talking and singing all fun stuff that folks love. And the naked yellow headed Clairol conures would be sold as baby DYH Amazons. People fell for it all of the time. Especially when they were told something like Well just for you I ll sell you this special baby for 200.. You don t see this practice so much any more but it was very popular in the AZ and TX border towns. ...
