Those faces were hungry for attention and human contact. They were a handful of the sixteen dogs who ended up at the shelter through no fault of their own in an animal cruelty case. Katy and her siblings were in fact raised at the shelter from the age of eight weeks onward. They were being held as courts evidence in the legal case against their abuser and as the legal system trudged along at its painfully slow pace over those 2 long years immune to the needs the dogs Katy grew from puppyhood to adulthood. There were kind-hearted volunteers who came to care for her daily....
