Avery - Female Domestic Longhair Mix

My name is Avery and I was brought to the SPCA from a cat hoarding situation where I was not very well socialized. I have been in a foster home where I underwent extensive therapy and I am ready for my new specialized home. Here is what my foster mom has to say about me. I have come a long way but am still very fearful of people so please do not reach over my head to pet me. Focus on chin cheeks neck and ears instead. I do not like full body strokes. I really don t like to be touched and that may or may not change in time with the right person. I must learn to trust you before I will allow any touching. People are scary to me and I need reassurance. I may take temptations if offered but this may take some time and patience with me. If Easton is around I am a little more accepting and take many cues from him. I need confidant cats to help me learn to trust scary things.I LOVE cat nip. It helps me relax and brings out my inner kitten. I love to chase string toys and by shaking a dingle ball you will get my undivided attention. I love dingle balls. I like to have high up places to view the landscape and makes me feel more secure. My favorite game is hide and seek. If you have a blanket or paper and use a stick toy to move around under it I will go crazy and play for hours I need a lot of play time to help me trust people. If you are patient and drag string toys over your lap I may even touch you. I always prefer for me to approach you not the other way around. Please don t make direct eye contact with me and do not stare. It scares me. I am not an aggressive cat and when people do that I see it as an aggressive act so I will run away and try to hide. Also please do not walk right up to me and expect me to be happy about it. I may hiss or want to get away from you beause this is terrifying to me.If you are slow and gentle I may allow you to hold me and pet me but it is not something I enjoy. I will likely complain about it initially but after a while I may relax and sort of enjoy itI haven t decided on that one just yet. Having Easton around really helps. Please set me up for success and try to have every socialization session be a positive one. If I get really scared or traumatized it really sets things back for me and you will have to earn my trust back if you ever want to speak to me again. I will require a home that will allow Easton to stay with me. I am extremely bonded to Easton and he is very protective of me. If he thinks I am upset or in trouble he always comes running He is my super hero. I require a home with no kids but I do like calm dogs. Primary Color Grey Age 2yrs 3mths 0wks... More Info
