Football - Male Guinea Pig

Football is a Cuy guinea pig..the kind that is raised for meat in Peru. Unlike most Cuy s he s pretty mellow and easy to pick-up..with TWO hands for sure On average Cuy s live to be about 3 years old while regular gp s live to be five to seven years. He has lived with children and is mellow.Football really likes to chew on gp safe toys wooden chewing toys and cardboard (like tp paper towel rolls) so make sure he has them at all times. You can also stuff tp rolls with hay to make it a bit more fun. And they will need their own hiding box or stools like we have. They do not need treats or salt licks. Both boy s are easy to do nail trims on. They will need time outside of their cage every day (inside of course). They need to stretch but more importantly they need to get out for mental stimulation. Find a safe area in your home where they can t get caught behind something or crawl into a small space..like a long hallway or a small bathroom. Put some towels down in case they potty and it ll help with traction. They should be picked up with both hands because they have very delicate spines and bodies. If not held properly or dropped they can easily be injured.Their cage should be at least this big or bigger. It should not be placed near heat or drafts. It must be cleaned every 2-3 days so they stay healthy and it won t get smelly. (See Spice s write-up for more care feeding information.)
