Of the two Murphy was shy but now isn t She s a delight and can be very active when held. When the first guardian of these two had to move their next guardian didn t have enough time for them. They have lived around dogs and are both social and enjoy being held petted. We think older children would be best because they are a bit squirmy. (Sometimes Murphy is food possessive...it s best to pet her while you are putting in taking out their food.Murphy and Blue are two adorable and friendly rats. This pair is going to make a great addition to the family that adopts them. Rats on average live to be 3 years of age if properly cared for. Typical of female rats they are a little busy and squirmy when held. However they are fine with that and will calm down if done everyday.Providing them with a variety of hiding and climbing structures and fun things to chew on will keep them busy in their cage between play sessions (toys like these cereal boxes small boxes). And changing them regularly keeps their cage interesting and helps with mental stimulation. Their cage should not be in direct sunlight or near drafts. This size is fine for them or a bigger cage Both of these girls are very social and to stay that way need to be out of their cage for handling and socializing daily.
