Danni and her BFF Pat came to TGF when their former owner breeder died. They are a handsome pair and are in beautiful feather condition. Their lives prior to TGF aren t fully known but both birds had been housed with other parrots and each of those birds is in beautiful physical condition. Since they ve been at TGF both birds have learned to become comfortable with people on a patient and trust-building basis. They will come to the front of their cage and take a treat. This makes them good candidates for learning some target training skills which is an excellent way for caregiver and bird to build confidence. They will come in and out of their cage on their own and it s now ok for one of us to put new toys in their cage. Working with these two birds will be rewarding as their personalities continue to emerge in a home environment. As with most Grey parrots Danni and Pat will enjoy floor walkabouts and beak testing the different textures in their environment. Bells clackety toys plastic chain cardboard and different types of soft wood like aspen cottonwood willow poplar white kiln dried pine and even dry pine cones with hidden treats are enjoyable for these birds. We ve heard them chatting a lot but understanding exactly what they re saying in English isn t clear to us during the most clamorous time of day when all of the flock has something to sing about.
