WE WILL COVER FAST KILL TREATMENT TO APPROVED FOSTER ADOPTER Missy s story with us started right at 20 months ago. She came to us from the dreaded list at the county shelter with 6 babies. Missy was just in horrible shape. Skinny full of parasites had hair loss and extremely bloated. We nursed her through the puppy phase and her puppies were adopted into wonderful homes Poor Missy though was just beginning her fight. She was diagnosed with severe heartworm disease and then 6 months later diagnosed with Congested Heart Failure from the heartworms. She was retaining tons of fluids and just a complete mess. Doc didn t feel she was suffering because she loved life still. She ran and played until she started coughing and she had a great appetite. He told us to put her in a hospice foster because she just simply wasn t strong enough to live through fast kill injections. He put her on 5 different medications and told us to love her while we could and we would know when the time come. Well that was a year ago.... And Missy beat so many odds and is still going strong This girl has such a will to live it s unbelievable. She had her yearly check up recently and besides some skin allergies which she s being treated for she s making a remarkable recovery. She s no longer coughing no longer retaining fluids and is 10 lbs lighter now that the fluids are gone. She was able to come off all of her heart meds so she s only on one medication at this time. She is still heartworm positive but doc said we are within a few months of being healthy enough for fast kill which is something Missy will desperately need to prevent any other damage to her organs besides what she has already gotten from the heartworms and the long term medications. Missy is a special girl who loves her people. We are desperately searching for a foster adopter that can take her in and help her beat these nasty heartworms. Missy is a great dog but she does have her quirks. There are some dogs she s very friendly with and then there are some that she will go after. There s no one thing with a dog that seems to set her off that we can pin point We know it s a long shot but we have brought Missy so far and we are praying there is a foster adopted home out there that fits Missy s needs of a more laid back setting through treatment and hopefully with no dogs or maybe just one that she can get along with Missy appears to be maybe a border collie mix around 35 lbs and 3-5 yrs old. She s crate trained and will potty outside if taken Loves to lounge on the couch and go outside for playtime and walks. Missy s story is such a sad one.
