You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chloe is a tiny 6-pound approx. 1-year-old PomChi that was born with a congenital issue called Hydrocephalus. This is a somewhat common condition in Chihuahuas in which the cerebrospinal fluid that covers the brain builds up and does not allow the skull to completely close. Chloe was born with this condition and has the largest opening in her skull that our vet and neurologist have ever seen. She is to be considered very fragile as the entire top of her head is missing the skull to protect her little noggin. We believe that this large opening has actually benefitted Chloe and kept the fluid pressure from building up and causing seizures which is the most common side effect with Hydrocephalus pups. She has been prescribed life-long Prilosec by the neurologist which does not eliminate the current fluid in her brain but will reduce any future production. Despite her condition she fared extremely well during her neurological assessment. Other than the typical dome-shaped head and eyes that point outwards Chloe is a healthy little girl. Chloe would do best with someone who has lots of time to dote on her as she is quite a lover and a Diva. To ensure her safety only homes without children and young grandchildren will be considered. It is also important that her forever home have only small calm pets with low energy. Chloe is currently kept in her own suite in her palace away from any the possible dangers such as playful dogs stair steps etc. Hydrocephalus pups normally do not house train so when she is not being held she has a spacious penned area that is lined with puppy pads. Being the Diva she is Chloe will bark to let you know her area needs cleaned and she will be sure to tell you exactly how she wants her cleaned bedding placed and will inspect it to the T. Chloe came from an overcrowded rescue down south and was infested with parasites which have been since been eliminated. She is a pretty normal pup and is learning that a human hand means belly rubs and play time. She has just recently taken interest in toys and likes to say hi to the other dogs in her foster home. Her demeanor has gone from quite feisty to accepting being handled even by the vets which is a big improvement. A potential adopter must understand Hydrocephalus and the symptoms that will progress over the years. We highly recommend yearly visits to a neurologist to review her behavioral neurological status and medications and maintain the best possible treatment plan for Chloe. There is a surgery available but one that is not to be considered lightly as serious risks and complications can occur. The prognosis for hydrocephalus depends on its duration and severity and our sweet Chloe is by far an acute case. Chloe is a special girl that needs a special home to love her...and boy does she ever love you back and provide comical entertainment.
