Hello My name is Bandit and I am a gorgeous Blue and Gold Macaw in my twenties. Before I came into rescue I was cage bound for many many years and I had plucked myself so badly that I damaged my feather follicles which means that my feathers will not grow back in most places. But that s OK because I am a fun loving nudist Who needs clothes Not me My foster family has shown me that I am gorgeous without them When I first came into rescue if anyone came within even a few feet of me I would have a panic attack and fall on my back screaming flapping and kicking. I would also bite pretty hard I was just so scared that I didn t know what else to do. But I have flourished in foster care and I am now a much happier parrot. I get plenty of daily out of cage time with my foster family and I love to explore my surroundings. I don t pluck anymore but like I said I will always be a nudist due to feather follicle damage. I love to be in the middle of all of the action at all times and I love to talk and amuse you with my vocalizations. I can bark quack and I am picking up new words all the time. I am still learning to trust though and am working on stepping up consistently but I love to take treats from your hand and I enjoy my toys. My training has been a long road but I will get there as long as I am with someone who has lots of patience and love to show me I really also need an experienced large bird owner. I have been in rescue since 2013 after coming in with 3 other birds after our Mommy had died in a motorcycle accident so I am very much looking forward to finding a family of my own where I know I will be safe and loved.
