Culligan - Male Russian Blue

Upon discovering a cat colony living in a vacant lot by the Culligan water store fearing a population explosion the FCF volunteer immediately started setting humane traps in order to get the cats spayed and neutered. The first cat to be captured was a drop-dead gorgeous sleek Russian Blue type kitty. He went to the vet the next day to be neutered and receive the necessary tests and vaccinations then went back to a foster home to recover. We were disappointed but not surprised to find that he seemed to be a feral cat not previously socialized with humans. He was never aggressive at all but was clearly quite fearful.Normally we would return a feral cat to the colony once fixed. However because he was so young -- not quite 1 year -- and non-aggressive we decided not to return Culligan immediately but to spend a few weeks with him and see if he would come around. After several days Culligan began to come forward when food was placed in his cage. His caretaker gingerly touched him on the cheek and he did not object. Before long he was readily accepting petting purring and rubbing on his caretaker s hands. Soon it was time to move him into a bigger space and he was picked up for the first time. Culligan looked surprised at being lifted into the air but did not panic.By today Culligan has learned that these humans can make pretty good buddies after all He is a very sweet and gentle kitty he lets all visitors pet him and pick him up has become a real lap cat and purrs very sweetly. It has been an amazing experience to see him come around Now there is only one thing missing. Culligan is ready to find his permanent home Culligan is looking for a quiet easygoing home without small children. He is still a bit shy and skittish due to his traumatic times on the street but will continue to blossom in a calm environment where he can get plenty of one-on-one attention. He has always gotten along beautifully with the other cats in his foster home so he would be a great choice if you already have one or more cats.Culligan is now just about 1 year old and has been neutered de-wormed vaccinated and tested FIV FELV negative. He took to using the litterbox like a pro There is a tax-deductible adoption donation that goes back to the Feral Cat Foundation (an all-volunteer organization) to help us continue providing medical care for other kitties in need like Culligan.
