Carmen is very lucky to be alive. S he is a young Ringneck dove that was found with badly clipped wings and tail and several puncture wounds (she survived a predator attack) and taken to the San Jose Animal Care Shelter from which because they don t adopt out birds she needed rescue ASAP. One of our volunteers picked her up took her to the avian vet for care and is now fostering her in safety and comfort. Ringneck doves are domestic and have no business being outside (except in a predator & rodent-proof aviary). Also- readers- please know that clipped wings will only ground a bird indoors. Outside where there is so much air current (even on still days) even heavy birds like King pigeons can get airborne with clipped wings. Little Carmen was probably blown along like a leaf.
