INTI 18 Month Old Labrador Golden Retriever Mix Male Neutered 60 PoundsInca sun god is the meaning and Inti s coloring sure could make him a sun god What a beautiful boy A wonderful volunteer for German Sheperd Rescue contacted a volunteer with Golden Gate Lab Rescue to see if we could help Inti. He was in the Bakersfield city shelter and was due to be put down due to having skin allergies. His owner purchased him from a breeder and had spent quite a bit of money on his skin allergies but since they could not figure it out and realized this may be a life-long problem they surrendered him to the shelter. Inti was giving a full evaluation at the shelter and the volunteer tested him and he passed all tests but just needed to have some medical done on him. GGLRR said they could help Inti and he was taken into our program. According to the records Inti was an outdoor dog only in his previous home which could be related to his skin condition. We have had Inti in a foster home for a month and have been treating his allergy issues. This is what the foster mom has to say about Inti Inti s foster mom has three dogs in her home 1 Chocolate Lab and 2 German Shepherds. She has a 9 year old daughter and he will jump up to try and each your hands. Inti is an active 18 month old male lab golden. He was surrendered to a shelter due to a skin problem and the owner was unable to afford vet care. Inti loves to play fetch of course and will drop it for you to throw again and again. He gets along well with cats but will chase them when they run. (He will nibble a little on the cat and when the cat is done he will jump up on the cat tree.) With dogs he has been growly a few times to show dominance but has not progressed to anything more. (The dogs in my home could care less if Inti has growled at them on occasion.) He does not mind other dogs playing fetch and is a good sport when they get to the ball first. He even loves playing tug-of-war with another dog and a rope toy. Inti knows how to heel on leash but needs reminders and someone to show him that he must behave. (We tell everyone that you are walking the dog and the dog is not walking you ) He s a goofy boy that needs a home that will give him some leadership so he doesn t think he needs to be the leader of the pack. He is best suited for a home with older children that won t be intimidated by his exuberance he may knock over a small child. He would love to be a running partner but he is a dog that should get out for at least two walks a day. Inti is such a smart boy he would be a great dog with agility training or getting him into a nose work class. With daily exercise he settles down in the house and at night he sleeps in his crate. (He would probably be fine not in a crate but our home routine is better if he sleeps in a crate.) He is a dog that will settle in the home and does not need to be with you all the time. Inti is housebroken and crate trained. We have had Inti to the vet a few times and the vet felt that Inti s issue could be a thyroid issue we have him on a low dose of thyroid medication. We have him on a grain free food we have been giving him regular baths with KetoHex from the vet made sure there were no fleas in the home and she got some antibiotics. He had an ear infection and that was treated. He is neutered updated on his shots he is heartworm negative and he is microchipped. Inti is located in Merced. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in.
