Peanuts is a very unique combination of personality independence and brute force while also having a rather docile affectionate side when the timing and mood is right. This sweet girl bouncy girl has been with us since last summer and is making her fifth appearance on our site after being returned several times for various reasons - her large size her independent personality her exuberant energy and finally for her injured knees (she suffered from cruciate ligament tears in both of her knees leading to extreme pain and weakness in both rear legs). Although a lot to ask we sought help from Friends of the Shelter to fund the surgery she needed to fix her athletic injuries as we just couldn t let Peanuts down after so many others had failed her - and as you might expect Friends of the Shelter did not let Peanuts down.While recovering from surgery with one of our vets we have discovered just what a great companion Peanuts is ... Housebroken crate trained (but doesn t need to be) perfectly content to sleep on a dog bed or curled up at your feet after she has had enough exercise to wear her out loves to play ball as well as chew on her nylabones a wonderful car traveler a pleasurable walker with her special harness lead and well you just have to give Peanuts some time to settle in establish a routine and give her some love and you will see just how wonderful of a family member she can be.With all that said Peanuts would do best in a home with a fenced yard so she has freedom to run off some energy no kids under 12 so she does nor unintentionally knock someone down when racing around or pull them over when she wins a game of tug and no cats as they will not appreciate her play style. Due to her injuries Peanuts will need to be on Dasuquin as a joint supplement for the rear of her life and may occasionally need prescription pain meds throughout her life if she overdoes it on her repaired legs.
