I have a scarlet that is about 8-9 yrs old. I have her exact hatch date but have to locate her papers in my files. There is a rehoming fee. She is a good girl and sweet very sweet once she trusts you..and once bonded loves to be held and played with a lot..loves to just be with you. She has no health issues and never has. However she has started to pluck the last year or two and I notice that with more to occupy her and lots of variety of foods she is more distracted from doing it. She is also eating a pellet diet with fruits and veggies..and she won t eat any kind of meat. She was DNA tested for gender. I am looking for an exceptional home for her because my daughter has developed allergies which now affect her asthma. I will only let her go to someone that had experience with birds especially big ones and loves them and has the time for them and is also financially well off enough to be able to take care of her. She does say her name my sons name mom I love you thank you bye and hi and hello. I also taught jer how to knock with her beak when you knock with your knuckles. She could learn more if you took time to teach her. I just haven t because it wasn t important to me that she talked. She is also not caged..and has spent most of her life except for about he first couple months on a perch or tree perch in my house. I ve transitioned them from cages to perches tree things because I don t believe they should be caged...I personally just feel it s kind of cruel...but that s me. And my dogs and cats don t go after her so I like giving her the extra freedom of not being caged. She does not fly off unless she gets really spooked by something which is very rare. She is used to other animals such as dogs and cats (which are also being rehomed) as well as another bird. If you have any questions please ask. Again this is very hard for me to do after having her all of these yrs so I do want to make sure she only goes to the best home..and that she is someone s pet and not go to a rescue or used for breeding or to make money. Also please do not contact me asking for my birds for free. If you cannot afford to buy a bird whether from myself or a pet store then you cannot afford the financial upkeep of one either. I also will need to see your home before I let her go to a new place. Thanks for looking.
