We are remodeling part of our home into a in-law suite. There will be 4 steps to enter the apartment but the rest is completly flat. It will be one bedroom one full bath with shower living room kitchen. Since it is in our personal home we are choosing the finest finishes and most if not all will be brand new. It will be fully furnished with twin bed living room with tables and lamps bar stool for eat in kitchen stove and refrigerator and television. My husband and I have a mini farm with a small garden that we would love to share with a senior. I am raising roses and all of our land is flat and easy to walk around and enjoy the garden and flowers. We just moved here so the flower garden is still a work in process...isnt it always Near your parents apartment is an extra large wrap around porch with rockers and we also have a screened in back deck where they can enjoy the evening bug free. We also raise our own chickens and have fresh eggs available. All this and still only blocks from Hamilton Place. If your Mom or Dad need help with anything we would be right upstairs too help in case of emergency. We would like for them to wear a light necklace that would notify us in case of emergency if alone and downstairs. We would be available to do help with medicines if needed. Also my mother in law who lives behind us is a LPN and she is only a phone call away. If assistance with meals is needed we can discuss that as well as houskeeping. We do not have children to cause any noise either. Its very peaceful and lovely out here yet close to everything. If Dr appointments are a issue getting too and from then we can discuss that too. We are just beginning this re-model so if this sounds like the place for your parent then we could make changes in the design right now. I took care of both of my grandparents in their later years and truely enjoy the elderly population. They would not be lonely or alone unless they wanted to be. I know how stressful it can be doing it all alone since that was my experience. We are open to discussing your needs and or situation and coming up with a custom plan for you while eliminating some of your stress too. We also attend church at the end of our street if your parent would enjoy being a part of the church population. We could take them too and from church. I do need to let you know that they must be continent and able to dress themselves and do their own hygeine. Assistance with showers may be possible from a LPN. If you need someone to sit with them 24 7 I can reccomend someone for that position that has extensive experience being a CNA. We also ask that they are a non-smoker.
