The doctor took x-rays and said he has a collapsing trachea which just makes him wheeze and cough a lot when he is excited. He always seems to be hungry and will help you keep your floor clean but the doc said gaining weight isn t good for his trachea issues and will only make it worse.We are working on Buckley s manners. Not snatching food off the floor when it falls ( don t you touch it works very well now) has been major for him and we are working on losing some weight. He is house broken and can be trusted in the house for a few hours unattended. But he hates being shut up in a room. He will panic and try to dig out. So I ve had to crate train him. Now he knows when I go for the box of bones and say kennel he heads straight there. He is a little piggie at meal time (we are working on it). He scarfs his food but I have trained him to sit and wait for the food until he is calm. He is getting the hang of it and will usually wait for me to say ok go ahead eat . He is extremely food motivated so if you ever need to teach him anything treats are the way to do it.Buckley is ok with older children as long as they don t get up in his face. He is great with other dogs as long as they don t try to run him over or attack him. If he does feel threatened he likes to pretend he is tough and snap but he is not a vicious dog. We have a cat that he mostly ignores. I would continue to foster him or adopt him but my work has picked up so much so that I m sometimes away from the house for 12 hours at a time and I will begin traveling in January. What Buckley would most like to do is sit in the recliner with you and watch TV. Buckley needs a settled life with someone who wants a little buddy as a companion.
