SEBASTIAN 9 Year Old Black Male Lab 62 PoundsLate on a Friday night GGLRR got a call from Sebastian s owner asking for help in finding him a new home. He was calling from Stockton an area that GGLRR does not cover and is not easy for us to rescue dogs. The story on Sebastian did not seem to be clear and it seemed like Sebastian truly needed help. GGRR put things in motion to help rescue him and then get him to the Bay Area. Here is Sebastian s story Sadly Sebastian s story is fragmented. The family who relinquished him to GGLRR claimed he had been abandoned by his owner their son. That they woke up last Tuesday and he was tied to their porch. They could not keep him as the grandkids were severely allergic to him and if we would not take him they were going to have to have him put down. They said he was eating but not holding down food and they were not sure why. That he was a fantastic dog got along with everyone and everything was an inside dog and that their son had the dog for his entire life. GGLRR emailed some people who referred them to some more people in the Stockton area who then referred them to a wonderful volunteer who drove out that same day to meet Sebastian and to get him into the vet. (The kind volunteer met Sebastian and could not believe what she saw when she meet him he had an open mass on his side that was bleeding and infected. She knew she had to get him to the vet right away.) Sebastian went into a wonderful vet in the Stockton area and stayed there for 6 days. While there he was updated on his shots neutered heartworm tested well check senior blood panel ears cleaned and they removed the mass from his side. (The vet in Stockton said it was a fatty tumor that someone had lacerated and had become infected. She said it was not a mass that was inside Sebastian. The mass was tested and it was benign.) While Sebastian was at the vet he had no issues with eating or holding down food. GGLRR feels that the family said this so we would rush helping him. A wonderful volunteer with GGLRR drove down to Stockton to bring him to the Bay Area and they thought he was such a great dog they offered to foster him. This is what is foster family has to say about him Sebastian is such a sweetheart that everyone in the vet s office fell in love with him and asked that we please let them know how he is doing It took Sebastian less than a day to win the hearts of his fosters who say his only bad habit is occasionally giving a little bark to ask for something. He is just one sweet adorable guy He is a gentle dog and not at all wild. He appears to be younger that his stated age of 9 years. He is not a food hound and takes his treats gently. He is happy to lay down wherever you are content to just be with you whether inside and out. Sebastian knows sit come stay and never begs when he is eating. He has clearly been a house dog and has perfect house manners. He does not jump on furniture beg for food or run around the house. He is housebroken and stands by the door when he wants to go outside and definitely enjoys exploring outside and he loves going for walks. He is great on leash never tugging or running out front and stays close by the entire time. Sebastian happily greets both children and other dogs and has no problems with them. He has not seen a cat yet he has been in the house where two cats live and while he was interested in their smells he didn t get excited. Sebastian always seems like he has a smile on his face from ear to ear not matter what happens to him (One happy BOY ) He is located in Sonoma. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in.
