May also be required to help deliver and unload product as required. May also be required to help deliver and unload product as required. This requires using excellent customer service skills and working in accordance with state and DOT regulations and Safety Preferred Work Methods.Overtime hours working weekends and holidays and starting at various early morning start times are required in order to successfully meet customers needs. An individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge skill and or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This route will require a 10 hour layover in a sleeper tractor per trip. Applicant must have an excellent attendance record Driver needed to deliver PRDC product into Freshpoint Southern Ca. and backhaul out of Southern Ca. back to Turlock Ca. Each trip averages about 20 hours with approximate 16 hours of home time between the back to back trips. Driver will do (3) round trips one week & (2) round trips the next week a total of approximately (100) hours per pay period. These are year round runs. Hourly pay plus meal allowance. Essential Skills and Knowledge Operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions. Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company. Effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision. Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills. Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures. Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing safety and customer relations. Essential Duties Pulls a trailer up to 53 to deliver to designated locations to drop a load of product and returning empty trailers within 14 hours. Delivers and Unloads designated product as required by hand or using hand cart to place is designated customer storage areas. May include transporting product down ramps stairs or docks in all weather conditions. Safely transports product picked up via backhauls and line hauls and ensures the pickup is correct and is delivered on a timely basis. Checks manifests invoices and backhaul paperwork to determine any special orders or instructions. Logs delivery information for each delivery stop to provide documentation of activities and proceeds to the next delivery as outlined on the manifest sheet. Ensures all logs and trip reports are completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis according to DOT standards. Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) logs (electronic or manual as required) company vehicle maintenance reports and reconciles with appropriate company representatives as required. Unloads returned merchandise off of truck and places them in the proper location for Quality Assurance associates to check. Reports large returns to the Transportation Supervisor or Manager in an effort to enhance efficiency of inventory control and warehouse operations Contacts the Transportation Supervisor or Manager for further instructions or next day instructions to enhance efficiency of delivery services. Run routes efficiently meeting or exceeding designated route times. Delivers efficiently and accurately places product in customer location. Performs pre-trip and post-trip responsibilities in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and FreshPoint policies and procedures. Follow preferred work methods at all times and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions. Handles company equipment properly follows written driver safety rules and complies with all DOT local and state laws. Handle any customer complaints professionally and communicate with management for resolution. Maintain secure and safely operate all assigned equipment including but not limited to hand cart pallets load bars and personal protective equipment. Maintains sanitary conditions in vehicle and assists with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse cross dock and yard. Complies with good attendance policy and adheres to work schedule. Other duties may be assigned. Vehicle Operation Inspects delivery vehicle per DOT instructions (i.e. checking tire pressure oil level gauges etc.) to ensure that it is set at proper temperature and operating properly. Ensures when leaving truck unattended that doors are closed and locked and keys are removed from the ignition to prevent occurrences of theft. Reports any vehicle mechanical problems to truck shop immediately and completes D.O.T. post trip inspection report placing all copies in the proper locations to ensure proper repair and the availability of a fully operational fleet. Parks vehicle following check-in removes all load bars pallets and hand trucks and places the equipment in the appropriate areas. Basic Requirements Must be 21 years of age Valid Class A Commercial Driver s License with a clean driving record (including no single DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 10 years) No chargeable accidents within the last three (3) years. Three (3 ) year s commercial driving experience with 53 trailers. Able to read write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations Must have basic math skills (add subtract multiply divide). Must pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen Background Check DOT Physical) While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to stand walk sit use hands to handle or feel reach with hands and arms climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl and talk and hear. The employee must regularly lift and or move approximately 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision for safe driving.
