Job Title Broward County Reading Interventionist (Grades K-2) Pool Location Broward County FL Regular Temporary Temporary Department Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast at the Florida Center for Reading Research. Salary Range 18 hour Qualifications A high school diploma and documented experience working with students in kindergarten through second grade. This can include classroom teaching tutoring or other experience. Background Check Requirements This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check. Preferred 1) Teaching experience in early childhood and or elementary educational settings 2) Background knowledge in early literacy and or elementary school reading 4) Strong organizational interpersonal written and verbal skills 5) Experience in administering assessments to children 6) Strong decision-making abilities and ability to meet deadlines 7) Ability to work as a team member. Other Information The Regional Educational Laboratory Southeast at Florida State University is seeking 35-40 Reading Interventionists for an Early Literacy Interventions Randomized Controlled Trial (Dr. Barbara Foorman PI) in Broward County FL. The duration of the position will be from approximately September 2013 through May 2014. The interventionist must be available Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 45am and 3 30pm on a consistent basis for approximately 35 hours per week. The interventionist may also need to be available for occasional trainings that would take place after 3 30pm. The primary location of work would be in a local participating elementary school with occasional travel to the FCRR Broward County Field Office. Therefore each interventionist must have valid Florida driver s license and reliable transportation capable of transporting project materials on a daily basis. Transportation of materials requires the ability to lift 25 lbs. Proficiency in spoken Spanish preferred. Responsibilities Provide small group reading interventions to children in participating Broward County Elementary Schools on a daily basis during school hours for the duration of the school year (approximately September through May). Attending project training will be required. Research-related duties may also include administering individual and or group assessments of children data entry and other project-related tasks as deemed necessary by the site coordinator. Responsibilities will include coordination and collaboration with other project intervention staff coordination with classroom teachers and regular interaction with the site coordinator.
