1978 VOLVO 262C Carrozzeria Bertone - built 262C a high end luxury coupe designed at VOLVO in Sweden but produced in Turin by famous coach builder Bertone in Italy. This car debuted in 1978 in one color combination - Mystic Silver over black - with the highly distinctive 3 inch lowered vinyl wrapped roof and full leather interior. Just about the complete interior from the sun visors to the door panels were covered in gathered black leather with elm veneer accenting the doors. The 262C engine is the fuel injected 2.7 liter Peugeot - Renault - Volvo V-6 with a Borg - Warner three - speed automatic transmission. CLEAN TITLE. WASHINGTON TITLE IN MY NAME ONLY. Car has 51 335 Original miles. Runs great. Is currently tagged in Washington. I just drove the car from Spokane WA to Las Vegas NV. I cruised (at) 75 - 80 mph all the way The car drove like a dream. I am the second owner of this car. The original owner was a doctor and his wife who drove the car until approximately 1995 then parked it for the next 14 -15 years. I have owned it for 3-4 years and just began driving it last week just prior to driving it to Nevada. The car has had some minor mechanical work done such as hoses fuel filter(s) fuel pump(s) and fuel injectors replaced repaired. Exhaust completely replaced. All work done by a mechanic in Spokane WA. ie the car ran beautifully all the way. One of the VOLVO Crowns on the side of the vinyl top is missing. The wheels are not the original Volvo wheels. The car was painted BLUE (I believe by VOLVO) prior to my owning it. (Doctor s wife s preference I guess) There is a slight crack in the dash. Crack can probably repaired. Doors and Headliner are in very good condition. The vinyl top is in pretty good shape. All leather and vinyl top could use conditioning. There are tears on the front leather seats. On the Driver back and seat and a small one on the passenger seat at the seam. All three tears started at the seams. Mostly just showing signs of wear the driver seat fraying and tearing from more use while being worked on and test driven. Leather is soft. As mentioned before the cruise control works fantastic There are a couple small paint chips - one on by the hood and very small one right rear. Very minor for the car s age. Otherwise the paint buffs out very nicely. It was amazing to see a shine after the car sat for more than 15 years Both windows work great. The automatic left rear view mirror contol works I am not sure the right one works. The heater works and the A C works. Everything else seems to be in good working order. The radio works I Believe the car is in outstanding condition despite its age. It is completely sound and in very good running condition. I did check the fluid levels twice on my 1150 mile drive and am happy to report it did not burn oil trans fluid nothing. It only averaged 16 -20 mpg cruising at 75 -80 mph. But it ran great ) Only 1670 cars were produced in 1978. This is a great collector car for any Volvo enthusiast. If I were able to keep it my intention was to put some nice 20 wheels and tires on it and add a black paint job. I always thought it had a gangster type look that I liked. But I do not need 3 vehicles. This one has got to go . . . . . . . . . . . . . Call Miriam (at) (702) 355-4802 to see.
